Winemaker's Notes

This is a wine that shows the artistry of blending five Bordeaux-heritage grape varieties, which contributed layer-upon-layer of flavor complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon gave the wine its generous core of briary blackberry and cassis expression, while we increased the amount of Merlot this year to tame the tannins and add plush mid-palate texture. Malbec contributed deep plum notes, while Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot completed the blend with nuances of rose, forest loam and graphite.

Critic Ratings

Wine Enthusiast Review - Rated 93:
Firmly structured and well-concentrated, this impressive wine needs time to mellow and gain more complexity. A tight core of black cherries and black currants is wrapped in firm tannins and dressed with subtle oak spices. Best from 2027–2037.

James Suckling Review - Rated 92:
Iodine and lead pencil with some currant. Flowers, too. Aromatic. Medium body. Creamy texture and a delicious finish. Juicy and fresh. Fine.

Wine Spectator Review - Rated 90:
Fruit-driven, with raspberry, açaí and blackberry notes all bouncing through, carried by brambly, slightly woodsy grip, though there's enough fruit to compensate for that. Reveals generous anise and sweet spices on the slightly heady finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
